Why your stock count is always wrong on a Monday

09 September 2026 · Nadia Rahman

Every shop we talk to has the same Monday ritual: open the spreadsheet, open the order system, and start reconciling. The gap almost always comes from three places. Weekend orders that were packed but not marked shipped. Returns that came back into the building without a matching adjustment. And a courier collection where someone counted twelve parcels and the manifest said thirteen. None of these are people being careless. They happen because the count lives in one system and the events that change it live in another. The fix is not a better spreadsheet. It is making the stock number a consequence of the events rather than a separate thing someone maintains. When marking an order shipped writes a stock movement automatically, the Monday ritual stops existing — there is nothing left to reconcile.
